Do My Hotel Points Still Count if I Book Through a Travel Advisor?

“If I book through you, do my points and elite nights still count?” No question comes up more often.

How it works

When I make the booking, your loyalty number goes into the reservation itself — the same record the hotel sees. The hotel recognizes your status exactly as it would if you had booked direct.

What I can see in the system

When I pull rates at a Hilton, Hyatt or Accor hotel, every rate tier is tagged with the program it earns in — Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt, ALL Accor. Brands with no points program at all, such as Peninsula and Mandarin Oriental, are tagged with benefits instead.

An example I pulled this week

Conrad Tokyo, October 20–23, two guests, three nights, King Room, 48 sqm, city view:

Public rate¥428,138 (about $2,775), non-refundableAdvisor rate¥377,854 (about $2,450), free cancellation

¥50,000 cheaper, and the advisor rate also includes: 25% off the specified room type, daily breakfast for two, a USD 100 credit, VIP treatment, an upgrade, early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability), and double Hilton Honors points. That last item is written into the hotel’s own rate description; I did not add it.

The same room has an even cheaper tier at ¥336,020, without the double points. Save ¥40,000 or take the double points — that is the kind of trade-off worth seeing before you book, and it is exactly what the booking sites hide.

The short answer

Points and elite nights post as usual. I have booked Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Accor this way many times, with no exceptions. For brands like Peninsula that have no points program, what I watch instead is that your benefits are registered on the booking.

You can check all of this yourself on the home page: search a city or a hotel name, and every rate tier lists what it includes and which program it earns in.
