Hotel Amigo: Book Classic or Upgrade for Tintin?

For Tintin fans, choosing Hotel Amigo might begin with the plush Snowy at the foot of the bed. If comics merit their own travel budget, consider the Tintin Suite. For two adults wanting repeated walks around Brussels’ Grand-Place, start with a Classic Room. My assessment comes from hotel information and the rates checked, rather than a personal stay. The draw is the old-town address and the Belgian character inside the rooms.
For 14 to 18 January 2027, one Classic Room for two adults was EUR 1,582.40 for four nights, including taxes and breakfast for both guests, with no prepayment and free cancellation until noon hotel time on 13 January 2027. That advisor-only rate suits travellers keeping their plans flexible. Its “stay three, pay two” offer depends on dates; it is not a year-round rate.
Stay here to keep returning to the Grand-Place
Hotel Amigo stands behind the Town Hall, around the corner from the Grand-Place: 80 to 100 metres away, or one or two minutes on foot. Choose it if you enjoy revisiting a neighbourhood. Walk out in the morning, return to your room between outings, then head back for dinner. If the square is a quick stop before moving on, this address matters less.
The official street photograph makes the relationship clear. Red HOTEL AMIGO lettering marks the brick facade, with the Town Hall’s Gothic spire rising behind the neighbouring roofline. A street slopes away to the right. The old town begins at the door.
Brussels Central station is within walking distance, and Brussels Airport is a 20-minute drive away. Those connections suit a longer city stay with breaks back at the hotel. There is a gym but no spa. If hotel spa time is central to the holiday, choose another address.
Ask about the windows before comparing floor space
In an official guest-room photograph, two tall windows face stepped gables across the lane. Olive-green velvet armchairs sit beside them. On the wall, a print of Magritte’s The Son of Man shows the bowler-hatted figure with a green apple obscuring his face. It is an appealing corner for anyone planning to spend time in the room between walks.
The photograph is not labelled by room category. A Classic Room measures 28 sqm and has Belgian ceramics, artworks and fabrics, Magritte prints and a marble bathroom. Rooms face either the street or the courtyard. Booking Classic does not secure the pictured outlook, so make the view part of the conversation before booking.
With children, settle the beds first. Classic accommodates a maximum of two adults and permits no extra bed. The 32 sqm Deluxe Room allows two adults and a rollaway for one child under twelve. For separate bedrooms, connecting Classic Rooms combine into 56 sqm. Decide how everyone will sleep before moving up to a suite.

Upgrade for Tintin if you want to live with the drawings
The Tintin room photograph shows a wall filled with Hergé’s line drawings: figures, biplanes and cannons, with Snowy sitting at the foot of the bed. If the comics already have a place in your suitcase, this is a personal reason to upgrade. If they hold little interest, keep the accommodation budget for other parts of Brussels.
The 80 sqm Tintin Suite contains artwork donated by Moulinsart, the Hergé Foundation. Its Brussels scenes include the flea market, La Monnaie and the Royal Palace. Readers can take those references out into the city. The suite also connects to a Tintin-themed Deluxe Room, creating a 112 sqm arrangement for families wanting separate sleeping spaces.
For architecture rather than comics, consider the 110 sqm Magritte Suite, which explicitly lists a Town Hall view. Another official photograph shows a top-floor suite bathtub facing open terrace doors, with the Town Hall spire beyond. That is not an entry-category room. Book a category with the view you want confirmed; an arrival upgrade remains subject to availability.

Plan the exhibition and dinner separately
For a winter visit, Bozar makes a useful half-day outing, a 10-minute walk from the hotel. See an exhibition, return to the old town and arrange dinner afterwards. Admission needs separate planning; the room quote does not confirm exhibition entry. The Keith Haring retrospective mentioned in older promotion ended on 21 July 2020, so those tickets cannot count towards this stay.
For dinner at the hotel, Ristorante BoCConi serves Italian food. Its official photograph shows marble tables, leather banquettes and a harlequin mural. Reserve a table separately, and allow for meals beyond the included breakfast.
If the winter market is the main reason for travelling, keep its dates first. Brussels’ winter market runs from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. The January stay quoted here falls after it closes. A complimentary night is little help if moving the trip means missing the market.

Compare breakfast and flexibility alongside the free night
The January Virtuoso rate preserves both breakfast and cancellation flexibility. For the same dates, room and occupancy, the public refundable rate with breakfast cost more. A public rate matched the advisor total but required prepayment and was non-refundable. The quoted total includes EUR 22.40 in city tax, collected by the hotel at check-out.
The discount is already included. Do not subtract another night. The checked plan says “stay three, pay two,” with each additional third night complimentary. A separate hotel mailing advertises a fourth night free. Those rules need checking separately. For 3 to 7 December 2026, the same room search showed no “stay three, pay two” offer; the advisor and public flexible rates matched.
The January rate includes full daily breakfast for everyone in the room and a USD 100 food and beverage credit once per stay. The credit is usable only during that stay, cannot be transferred and is not cash back. Upgrades on arrival, early check-in and 4pm late check-out all depend on availability on arrival. Book the room you need, and avoid planning departure around an unconfirmed late check-out.
Put the room requirements into the booking
To book through me, Jay at FlyBest, a Virtuoso advisor, send your dates, adult and child numbers, and whether street views or separate bedrooms matter. I will re-price those dates and compare advisor, public and promotional rates. I will make sure the confirmation spells out breakfast, the dining credit, the cancellation deadline and any prepayment.
For Classic, I will pass your street-facing or courtyard preference to the hotel before booking. For families, I will submit bed and connecting-room requests, including the relevant Deluxe or Tintin arrangement. I can request and follow up upgrades, early arrival and late departure, all subject to availability. If you want dinner at Ristorante BoCConi, I will book it around your itinerary.
Want your own dates priced one window at a time to see whether the free night is there?
Check the article’s dates (2027-01-14 – 2027-01-18)Check my own datesStay rates are checked again. Event places, dining and other services require a separate enquiry unless explicitly included.
Rates are live pulls from the booking system on 26 October 2026, quoted as tax-inclusive totals for one room and two adults in EUR, the property’s billing currency: the main window is 14–18 January 2027 (four nights) and the comparison window is 3–7 December 2026 (four nights), both for the same hotel, the same Classic Room and the same number of nights, so the two are on a common basis. In the comparison window the advisor rate and the public flexible rate were identical, and the amenities sit on top of that same rate; the upgrade, early check-in and 4pm late check-out are all subject to availability on arrival and are not guaranteed. The stay-three-pay-two plan switches on and off by date and is not a standing discount; it is opened through the advisor channel and is not a public promotion. The figures above price that plan (free third night), not the fourth-night-free offer in the trade mailing, which triggers at four nights and was not priced here. The mailing states no booking deadline, stay window or minimum stay, and none is inferred. Room sizes and furnishings are quoted from the hotel group’s own room sheet; Bozar exhibition dates are from bozar.be, checked 26 October 2026, where no ticket prices are published; January climate figures are the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium 1991–2020 normals. The author has not stayed at this hotel; every scene described comes from official photography and the official room sheet. Photography courtesy of the hotel.
