Waking Up in Waikiki: A Hyatt Regency Stay Booked Through Hyatt Privé
Every trip to Honolulu, I end up at this Hyatt Regency. This time I booked it through Hyatt Privé, and only on arrival found I had been put in a high-floor ocean-view room.
The moment I opened the balcony door, I stood still: the whole Waikiki shoreline was spread out below, the sea glittering in the distance. Coffee on the balcony in the morning, nothing to do but watch the waves come in one after another.
The small things
A handwritten welcome card and chocolates were waiting in the room — small details that genuinely lift a stay. Breakfast was included, nothing to arrange: a generous buffet of fruit, salads and hot dishes, then out to the balcony to look at Diamond Head.
At night
Waikiki at night is lovely from a high floor, the lights running straight into the coastline. The hotel’s Japanese restaurant is worth trying — the tuna is plated with care and goes perfectly with sake.
What Hyatt Privé is
The high floor, the ocean view, the breakfast and the welcome gift all came from the Hyatt Privé rate: the same price as Hyatt’s website, with the benefits on top, and points and elite nights earned as usual.
