Loving hotels and studying loyalty rules are separate hobbies. You might want the beach, a leisurely breakfast or somewhere comfortable to take your parents. Those are reasons enough to travel. Finding awards need not become another interest.
A Guest of Honor award brings some Globalist benefits. Finding one can involve forums, posts and friends of friends, without securing the hotel you wanted. Put that effort into choosing somewhere to stay, and the holiday starts looking more appealing.

Breakfast First. Plans Can Follow.
Daily breakfast for two is included at participating hotels, regardless of Globalist status. On a resort trip, you can finish breakfast before deciding between the beach, pool and spa. An empty morning schedule has its uses.
Hotel credit typically covers dining or spa treatments. If you already wanted dinner at the hotel or a massage, you have somewhere to use it. That matters more than a long benefits list.
An upgrade is confirmed with the reservation if the higher room category is available at booking. For someone who has studied the rooms, knowing the confirmed category before arrival carries weight.
Points and elite-qualifying nights still accrue normally. Enjoying this stay can sit alongside building your membership.
Start With Who Is Coming
Traveling with parents makes the questions specific: breakfast, room category, perhaps connecting rooms. Children, anniversaries and proposals bring different priorities. A hotel name and dates cannot explain all of that.
If connecting rooms matter, say so clearly. Tell the hotel about the celebration before arrival. Advance notice gives it an opportunity to respond; a request still needs confirmation.

Compare What You Will Actually Use

Choose the View and Terrace Deliberately
These benefits fit stays with time for hotel dining or the spa, whether at a resort or a popular city hotel. If your plans take you elsewhere, keep them. The credit is for spending at the hotel.
If a suite, ocean view, terrace or particular orientation is why you chose the property, book for that requirement. A higher category does not necessarily deliver the view.
That is a sensible place for the budget. Leave possible upgrades to availability. Choose the room that determines how you want to spend the holiday.
