Madrid for the Race, Other Plans for Dinner

Dinner Has Other Ideas

The race brings you to Madrid. Dinner can have other ideas. In Rosewood Villa Magna’s official photographs, large trees rise through a glass pergola in the private garden, with climbing plants trailing towards outdoor sofas. It is the sort of setting that makes me reconsider an overfilled itinerary. Coming all this way just to return to the hotel at bedtime seems a little severe.

The 2027 calendar puts the Madrid Grand Prix on 10 to 12 September. Rooms for race weekend have not been released yet. For now, the useful decision is what kind of stay you want around the racing.

On the Avenue, Looking into the Trees

The building dates from 1972 and reopened as a Rosewood in October 2021. Brass cubes and aluminium cover the facade; BAR Studio designed the interiors. There is plenty to look at before you reach a window.

The view is more persuasive. In the hotel’s photographs, tree canopy fills the foreground, with pale ochre buildings and Madrid rooftops beyond. Your eye reaches the branches before the city.

That arrangement appeals to me more than a list of decorative finishes. You can stay in central Madrid and still give the avenue a supporting role in the view. The city is present without taking up the whole frame.

Choose What You Want to Look At

For the avenue, start with Premier. Its listed outlook is a city view or a Paseo de la Castellana view. That small “or” does quite a lot of work. Choosing the room category does not settle the direction of the windows, so I will pass your view request to the hotel before booking.

If more room for the sofa and sitting area matters, look at Junior Suite. Decide which you expect to use more: the outlook or the living space. That is a better starting point than working upwards through the room names.

Then there is the bathroom photograph. A freestanding tub sits beside a full-height window, with brass fittings and white marble. I can see how the booking decision might get made right there. Unfortunately, the photograph does not identify the room category. Before booking, I will ask the hotel which category has that bathroom and pass along the request.

Leave Dinner Undecided

This is a hotel where a little indecision about dinner makes sense. Las Brasas de Castellana serves traditional Spanish dishes, including meat and seafood cooked over coals. Tarde.O offers tapas and cocktails. Both have outdoor garden seating. A full dinner and a lighter evening each have somewhere to happen.

Calle Serrano and the Golden Mile are behind the hotel, a 2–5 minute walk away. Shopping followed by dinner makes an uncomplicated plan. You can leave space for the evening without having to fill that space in advance. I would keep this part of the itinerary loose.

For a meal built around Cantabrian cooking, there is Amós, recommended by the Michelin Guide. For an afternoon with less going out, Sense, A Rosewood Spa has a Turkish hammam and Finnish sauna. These are reasons to allow some time at the hotel itself. I can re-check which facilities are open before arrival and book restaurants or the spa.

Coming for the Hotel? Move the Dates

If the hotel is the reason for the trip, turn the calendar to November first. On the dates I checked, a three-night Premier stay arriving on 13 November 2026 was 42.9% cheaper than the same category arriving on 9 October 2026.

That makes moving the dates the first thing to try. The saving is substantial enough to consider before getting absorbed in promotional wording. If your Madrid plans are flexible, November gives you another reason to make the trip.

A Few Things to Settle Before Booking

Deluxe is 30 sqm. It is not especially spacious, so consider that carefully if you expect to spend much time in the room. The facilities list does not include a swimming pool. If swimming is part of your holiday, plan on there being none.

Madring is at IFEMA, northeast of central Madrid. Allow extra time for the journey on race days. Choosing this address means making room for that transfer in the itinerary; an ordinary-day journey estimate is a poor basis for a tight departure.

October also brings trade fairs and Spain’s National Day long weekend. On the dates I checked, neither Deluxe nor Premier was available for the three-night stay beginning 16 October 2026. Autumn does not automatically make availability straightforward.

When Rooms Open, Compare the Whole Booking

Mid-to-late October 2026 is the estimated time to start watching for race-weekend rooms. The hotel’s release will decide the actual timing. I will note the expected opening, then check prices and book your dates when they become available.

For the October and November Premier stays compared here, the advisor-only rate matched the public rate. At equal rates, Virtuoso is the clear choice: à la carte breakfast for two, a hotel credit for dining and spa, welcome fruit and bottled water.

I will re-price your dates against advisor, public and promotional rates. If a public promotion is cheaper, that is the rate to choose. I will also make sure the confirmation spells out breakfast, benefits, the cancellation deadline and prepayment terms.

I can request and follow up an upgrade, early check-in and late checkout. All depend on availability; upgrades at arrival exclude signature suites.

Rates were checked live on 23 September 2026 for one room, two adults and three nights. The comparison used totals in euros, including taxes and surcharges, for the lowest fully cancellable Premier rate requiring no prepayment. The cancellation deadline was 15:00, hotel local time, one day before arrival.

Rates are live pricing pulled on 23 September 2026: one room, two adults, three nights per stay, total after tax, in euros. All seven dates use the cheapest fully refundable, non-prepaid rate on either channel in the same 35 sqm Premier category, with check-out on 12 Oct 2026, 26 Oct 2026, 16 Nov 2026, 18 Jan 2027, 19 Apr 2027, 19 Jul 2027 and 16 Aug 2027 respectively; per-night figures are the total divided by three, not a quoted nightly rate. That category returned no result for the 16 October stay, which is noted separately in the text. Advisor and public rates were compared on the same date in the same category. Upgrades, early check-in and late check-out all depend on availability on the day of arrival. Madrid City Break and Suite Sojourn are the hotel’s public offers and are subject to its published terms. Race dates, circuit location, hotel size and dining details were verified against public sources as of September 2026. September 2027 pricing and terms have not yet entered the booking system’s 330-day window and will need to be re-priced when they do. Photography courtesy of the hotel.
