Ambergris Cay: Bring Your People, Leave Each Other Room

Together, with Room to Yourselves

Giving each other space can be a thoughtful way to travel together. Ambergris Cay suits that kind of gathering. The houses are spread across the island. Someone can head to the beach while someone else settles on their veranda. Meet again at dinner. A shared holiday need not turn every afternoon into a committee meeting.

This private island covers roughly 1,100 acres at the southeastern end of Turks and Caicos, with 31 bungalows and 12 villas available to rent. Your accommodation comes with a golf cart. Restaurants, beaches and shallows become places you can head for when you feel like it.

You may have to wait for a protected rock iguana to clear the road. That seems a perfectly acceptable reason to be delayed.

Find a House That Fits

For a couple, the Beachfront Bungalow makes a convincing choice. A king bed, a sea-facing veranda, a heated plunge pool and an outdoor shower put much of the holiday outdoors. Come back from the beach, rinse off, then go inside. If the sea still has your attention, stay on the veranda a little longer.

The Waterside Bungalows, new in 2026, bring the accommodation closer to the water. The all-inclusive stay and island flight are included here too. A smaller house still gives you the island.

For family and friends, look at Poseidon and Neptune. Each has three bedrooms with king beds and ensuite bathrooms, plus separate living, dining and kitchen spaces. Outside are a private pool and an ocean-view balcony. There is somewhere to gather and a door to close afterward. Time alone feels easier when the house already makes room for it.

Sleeping arrangements matter more than a villa’s name. Osprey has two kings, a queen and two twins. For a group likely to spend plenty of time at home, Carpe Diem adds a rooftop deck and a grill. Dream Estate extends to eleven bedrooms and four pools, with a private beach, a chef and a butler. That is a different scale of invitation.

Which Stretch of Beach for Dinner?

From Providenciales, a small aircraft takes about twenty minutes to reach the island’s own runway. The return air transfer is included. Once there, you might start planning with lunch: Calico, the over-water Calico Water Deck, or the more home-like setting of The Club House. All-inclusive dining is à la carte, with premium spirits included. You still get the pleasure of choosing.

Paddleboards, kayaks, Hobie Cat sailing, tennis and pickleball courts are included too. There is plenty to do when sitting on the veranda has run its course. Before sunset, Hangover Tiki Bar gives you a reason to head for the shallows.

Park the golf cart at the shore and wade the remaining stretch. Getting into the water specifically to get a drink is a small complication with a distinctly holiday logic. I can see the appeal.

Dinner can be more personal: choose a stretch of beach and ask the kitchen to arrange a meal there. Toward Little Ambergris Cay, the view takes in an uninhabited nature reserve with no buildings. Choosing where to eat becomes part of deciding how to spend the evening.

With children, there are rock iguanas to look for in the low scrub. The Club House has board games and a games room. A kids club is planned for the 2026 festive season.

Set the Guest List Before Doing the Math

The three-bedroom decision can wait until you know who is coming. On the dates I checked, Poseidon cost $18,876 for the whole villa, whether the search was for two adults or six. With six people, the house has a stronger case. For a couple, a bungalow is the straightforward choice.

The villa early-booking offer advertises 20% off plus resort credit. Virtuoso matched the public rate on the dates I checked. Its extras were a welcome amenity, USD 100 in resort credit, a sunset cruise in 2026 and an upgrade subject to availability.

Breakfast is already included in the all-inclusive stay. Counting it again would make the benefits look more generous without changing breakfast.

If it comes down to the discount or those added benefits, I favor the discount. The applicable offer and actual quote still need confirmation.

Where to Start with Dates

Start with November through December 18. For the Beachfront Bungalow, check December first. It did not appear for the November dates I searched, but it did for December. That is a result for those dates, not a verdict on availability throughout November.

When comparing the budget with hotels on Providenciales, include meals, drinks and the flight to the island. Those are expenses you would otherwise have to account for. Here, they are already included.

The distance also shapes the holiday. There is no town, no shopping and no off-property restaurant circuit. Mosquitoes can follow rain, though the trade winds help keep them down. If shopping and island time both belong in your plans, start in Grace Bay, then come here for two or three nights.

Get the Details in Writing

The early-booking deadline is September 30, 2026, with a three-night minimum. Eligible accommodation and occupancy need confirmation. Resort credit is nonrefundable, has no cash value and cannot cover room charges, taxes or gratuities.

The promotional text says stays through December 25, 2026; the footnote says through December 31, 2026. The applicable cutoff, festive minimum stays and eligibility for combined savings of up to 35% need written confirmation. Do not assume other promotional or negotiated rates can be combined.

Regular bookings require 30% at booking, with the balance due 30 days before arrival. Cancellation within 30 days incurs a full penalty. Festive terms differ, and the published 91-day penalty-free cancellation cutoff still needs written confirmation. Prepay & Save requires full payment and is nonrefundable and nonchangeable.

Before you pay a deposit, I will re-price your dates and group size, comparing advisor, public and promotional rates with written confirmation of eligible accommodation, how discounts combine and the final stay date. I will also make sure the booking confirmation spells out breakfast, benefits, the cancellation deadline and prepayment.

Rate reference: December 7–10, 2026, three nights, one villa, including taxes and surcharges. The occupancy comparison used two adults and six adults.

Get your people together first. Then let the house fit around you.

Want the live rates and the discounted arithmetic laid out for your dates?

See live rates for Ambergris Cay

Rates are live pulls from the booking system, totals include taxes and surcharges. Basis: 7–10 December 2026, three nights, one unit, two adults, with additional pulls at six adults and for 16–19 November 2026 as comparisons. Per-night figures are the total divided by nights. Availability and pricing change constantly; the rate at the time of booking governs. All discounted figures are arithmetic this article performed on those live rates, not quotes from the resort. Offer terms are taken from the property’s promotional email of 14 September 2026: book by 30 September 2026, 20% off private villas plus a USD 400 resort credit, three-night minimum, body text stating stays November through 25 December 2026 while the terms state stays through 31 December 2026; not valid for group bookings or existing reservations, not combinable with any other promotional or negotiated rate, and other restrictions and blackout dates apply. The resort credit excludes room rate, taxes and gratuities and holds no cash value. Prepay & Save percentages and blackout dates, festive-period minimum stays and cancellation schedules, and child supplements reflect the resort’s published terms and are subject to written confirmation before booking. The advisor rate and the public rate were the same price across all 26 rows returned; Virtuoso amenities are separate, and the upgrade is subject to availability. Island and destination facts (acreage, runway and transfer, hurricane season, dining outlets) were verified against public sources as of September 2026. Photography courtesy of the hotel.
